Early Hearing Detection and Intervention Program

Photo of black and white infants. The Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) Program cares about your baby's hearing. EHDI provides assistance and education to hospitals, medical providers, and others. It supports families by connecting them to available resources and helping them get the care their baby needs.

EHDI is located in the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Public Health, Women's and Children's Health Section, Children and Youth Branch as part of the state Title V Maternal and Child Health Services Program. The program is administered by staff in the Genetics and Newborn Screening Unit and functions in close collaboration with a number of other programs for children with special health care needs.
